Self-hosted home automation stuff
Been doing work with #HomeAssistant to further independence on cloud-based IoT bullshit.
- My Wemo, TP-Link, and Eufy plugs all have internet denied at my router and are locally controlled.
- Hue hubs have local control inherently, and I unblock it for software updates sometimes.
- Wyze sensors go through the host machine and cameras do RTSP.
- Even my Eufy vacuum is locally controlled thanks to a project, with internet control blocked.

Self-hosted home automation stuff
My thermostat still isn't cloud controlled but I can't do anything about that. But I do have sensors, one outside, one in my office, that I built from ESP chips to report temperature and humidity, and a Bluetooth Xiaomi one in my bedroom that talks directly to the host PC over bluetooth.
My automations too are a mix of Home Assistant ones and stuff I've built in Node-RED because of the flexibility.
